The Cot

Sleeps 4

2 Bedrooms

In a row of whitewashed, thatched cottages in a Cornish fishing village, The Cot is one of those places where you can drink in all the atmosphere of Cadgwith and its history. Sunny and south facing, this renovated cottage allows you to enjoy the cove in very comfortable, stylish surroundings. Low beams, open stonework and original wooden doors – together with a secret room, possibly a smuggler’s hidey-hole – all add to the appeal of this 16th Century property.

You can enjoy freshly caught fish and crab in the Old Cellars Restaurant or in the Cadgwith Cove Inn, the local pub and social hub of the village. The Inn is the venue for a thriving Folk Club on Tuesday nights and traditional Cornish singing every Friday. In high season, seafood barbecues, fishing competitions, gig racing, a regatta and a folk music day are social highlights of this charming, unspoilt village in South West Cornwall.

The finer details

If you are travelling by road from anywhere outside of Devon and heading to the west of Cornwall, the most direct route is likely to include the M5 and then the A30.

Directions From Helston:
From Helston, head south on the A3083 following the signs for the Lizard.

Follow the A3083 for approximately 9 miles passing the Mullion turning and the Lizard Cider Barn on your right. Just after this there is a left turn to Ruan Minor, Cadgwith and  Kennack Sands. Take this road which takes you through the village of Ruan Minor and down the hill to Cadgwith (the road is narrow with few passing spaces). As you come into the village there are thatched cottages either side of the road, The Cot is the second cottage on the left.

Location details will be forwarded with the booking confirmation.

“Epic views over the village!”

“We stayed here for the 2nd part of our honeymoon and were so pleased with our choice. Clean, comfortable and cosy. The attention to detail in the cottage was great, exactly what you’d hope for. The village is lovely, all the locals are very friendly and helpful. Old Cellars restaurant was amazing, we ate there pretty much every night. The local pub is good for drinks and evening entertainment. There is a local taxi driver who we used a few times to head off to Porthleven and Coverack, def recommend contacting him-details in the guest book. Overall a wonderful stay, the garden at the top has epic views over the village, couldn’t have asked for anything better.”

“Cadgwith is truly unique!”

“Had a wonderful 4 days at the Cot for New Year. Really enjoyed the cosy, well equipped cottage, lovely walks along the coastal path from the front door and the hospitality, great food and friendliness of the locals and other visitors at the pub, just 20 yards down the road. Cadgwith is truly unique being a beautiful Cornish village which is still real, with a strong local working community.”
